Cultures and Traditions...

So, I'm a Latin girl... I was born and raised in the U.S.A. but along with American influences, I also have a ton of Latin ones. There is this really dumb thing that at least in the Latin parties that I have been to growing up take part in where the birthday girl/boy will stand at the table with the cake and take a picture with all the guests... I HATE THIS TRADITION! LOL! I just don't get it at all... Why do we have to take a picture with the cake? I am not lying when I tell you that first birthdays in my culture are big and always have their own album and in that album there at at least 7 pages dedicated to all the guests taking THAT cake picture with the birthday boy/girl. I promised to never take part in this tradition because well, it annoys me, but this past Saturday at my daughter's 1st birthday party, I got sucked in! One moment, I was standing with my husband and girls while everyone sang happy birthday and the next moment there was a line of people getting ready to take the CAKE picture, lol! I want to know different traditions that other cultures have, so if anyone out there can share some with me, I would LOVE to hear about it!
